About Us

CATO Rocketry Club is dedicated to education, camaraderie and having fun. We fly monthly (weather permitting), generally at Zagray Farm in Colchester, CT.

President Ray DiPaola president@catorockets.org

When Ray's not busy at work, hiking  or up north, he is busy making kits as a owner of Fliskits.   In his spare time, he serves as the president of our club!

Vice President:  Brad Oestreicher brad@catorockets.org

Renowned creator of the "CATOMatic" launch system which has supported not only CATO but a couple of LDRS's and NERRFs....Brad is also the only human being who can correctly pack the CATO trailer.   As  such, he has been made VP for life!

I had to find a picture off the web, perhaps he will send me a better one!

Communications Director: Jack Sweeny

Flight cards, pictures, social media, Jack can do it all!  I'm sure he'll give me a  longer bio, maybe a different picture!

Outreach Coordinator:  Ross Tracey ross@catorockets.org

Ross can be easily found at our launches, just look for the  tallest person!   He's been running outreach for a long time and has continued to find new ways for us to share our hobby.   Fun fact:  his dog knows German!

Webschmuck:  Rick Comshaw r.comshaw@snet.net

When not cycling, running or hiking, Rick is hard at work as the owner of Ratworks Rocketry (Formerly Wildman CT) and Tru-core.   He's a altitude and speed junky that thinks that September exists just for BALLS.   He's also the LCO for METRA Rocket Club as well. He also thinks contest rules are just boxes to think outside of!    He's not known for taking himself too seriously.   He's got a face for radio, so we posted his logo!  When we switched to club express, his special type of OCD became a benefit for the club. Please feel free to email him suggestions for the website.

Assistant Webmaster:  Russ Parrish russ@catorockets.org

Russ totally ran our last website, but now he has little ones and doesn't have as much time anymore.   He is, however, the brains of the web organization, and without him Rick would just wreck the website.   Fortunately for CATO, he's still got enough time to fix all of Rick's mistakes.    Russ is a 5 year CATO member and currently lives in Glastonbury. He studied Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech and has a love for anything that flys. After starting with rockets in elementary school, he returned to the hobby with his two boys in 2018.  Russ is also the owner of FlightSketch.
